Library FAQs relating to COVID-19
Both library locations are currently closed to the public, but we are offering curbside pickup service.
Need help? Call 541-997-3132
Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Or email email@example.com.
Is the library open?
The Siuslaw Public Library District is open for phone calls, emails, item return, and curbside pickup of requested items. At this time, neither location is open for browsing or meeting room use.
Can I return library items?
In preparation for the rainy season we have moved our return bins into the main lobby (9th St side of the main library in Florence). Return times remain unchanged: Monday-Thursday from 11-2, and on Fridays from 11-6. We are using large bins that will allow us to quarantine items for 72 hours for the safety of patrons and staff.
How do I check things out?
Call us Monday-Friday, 10-1, at 541-997-3132. Or fill out our online request form any time. You can request up to five items per card. Requested items are usually available the following business day. (We are not taking requests by email.)
What if I don't know what I want to check out?
We would love to pull a few titles just for you or your family members! Fill out the curbside request form or call us during request hours and let us know what kind of books, DVDs, etc., you would like. Or check out this short video on how to search the catalog.
What if I need a computer or internet access?
We have temporarily stopped computer appointments, through at least December 2. We have free public wifi available outside at both locations. Look for the blue signs in the parking lot with more information.
Can I (or my group) reserve a meeting or study room?
The library is not currently open to the public, and we cannot accept reservations for any of our meeting rooms.
Are you accepting donations of used books, DVDs, and CDs?
For everyone's safety, we have limited the number of staff and volunteers in the building, including the Friends of the Library. We are not currently accepting donations, but the Friends will send out a community-wide update as soon as they are able to accept materials again. Thank you for your support!
What if I have a question?
Call us at 541-997-3132 from Monday to Friday, 10-6 or email any time: firstname.lastname@example.org. We are also offering a brand-new service - Book a Librarian. You can set-up a thirty-minute appointment with one of our librarians to tackle tech needs. Want to access ebooks? Wondering how Instacart or Zoom works? We can help!
