The Siuslaw Public Library District is seeking community members to fill three-year Budget Committee seats. Residents who live in the library district are eligible to apply for the position. Applications are due by 5 p.m. PST on Friday, February 28, 2025. The library district board will make appointments to the budget committee at their regular monthly meeting in March.

As required by Oregon Local Budget Law, the Siuslaw Public Library District Budget Committee is made up of five elected board members and five more appointed registered voters who reside within the boundaries of the library district. The appointed members may not be officers, agents, or employees of the district. All members of the Budget Committee have equal authority.

Applicants do not need to have specialized experience to apply, but they do need to be able attend a 60-90 minute meeting at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 and to:

Receive and review the budget document.

Hear the budget message.

Hear and consider public comment.
-
Request and receive additional information as needed.

Discuss and revise the budget as needed.

Approve the budget.
-
Approve the property tax rate.

​Attend additional budget committee meetings if needed (need is determined by the budget committee itself).
